José Carlos Marques, McGill University

    About José Carlos

     Prior to pursuing a PhD (Strategy and Organization) at McGill University José Carlos worked as a Researcher / Research Analyst at the UN Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD). In a former life, he worked as a Business Analyst, Project Manager and Group Manager in several organizations within the IT and aviation industries, and the NGO sector. 

     

    José Carlos holds a MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has lived in Switzerland, Brazil, and the UK. Fluent in English, French and Portuguese, he is now struggling with Spanish. 

     

     

     

     

     

    PhD project

    Corporations as political actors: Strategic, organizational and political perspectives on the private-public policy nexus


    José Carlos' research interests include: 1) links between business strategy and public policy; 2) determination, consolidation and influence of business interests on government policy-making in comparative perspective; 3) political economy of corporate social responsibility (CSR); 4) impact of industry structures/practices upon private governance and standards.
