Social responsibility in collective dismissal strategies in Quebec during plant closings : mechanisms and determinants
In this thesis, we study the phenomenon of collective dismissal following the closure of branch offices of multinational corporations, through the mechanisms or practices set up by managerial actors, and by taking into account external factors determining these mechanisms. First, our approach consider the impact of collective dismissal on the employees and on external stakeholders, including the local community. Second, we will identify the variables that influence the strategic choices of decisional actors in the choices of the mechanisms that minimize the negative impacts of layoffs. Finally, our approach will consider the ambiguous political role of Corporation through Corporate citizenship.
